DRIVING PROGRESS: ARA'S IMPACT ON GLASS REPAIR
Labour rate increases.
The ARA shared labour information with the government to support and advance the collision repair industry, resulting in a combined 9% increase over three years.
As part of a 3%-3%-3% deal announced in 2022, the glass repair industry received an additional rate increase of 3% on July 1, 2024.
Industry liason.
Operational concerns and policy/program interpretation are discussed on your behalf at the industry liaison table. Our mantra is simple; ensure industry treatment is fair and reasonable. Industry does not work for free–industry is entitled to fair compensation.
Participate in our quartly industry network meetings to connect with fellow professionals. These sessions provide valuable insights, foster knowledge sharing, and support your commitment to best practices. Join us to stay informed and engaged with industry trends.
SkilledTradesBC challenge process.
The ARA works in conjunction with SkilledTradesBC to validate those who wish to write a challenge exam for their glass ticket. Through an on-site assessment process, we are able to validate the person has the appropriate up-to-date skills to complete both windshield repair and replacement. Once the assessment is passed, the technician is issued a certificate number required by SkilledTradesBC to apply to their challenge exam.
INDUSTRY PARTNER
Certified Autoglass Service (CAGS).
The Certified AutoGlass Service (CAGS) program is an initiative driven by and for the automotive industry. It’s about the ability to prove you’ve achieved the highest industry standard for quality, safety and service.
What will the certification program do for you?
Show you have credentials to meet OEM and insurance program requirements.
Differentiates your facility from others with the use of a third-party recognition process that validates you as a top tier facility.
Provide an independent audit (every 2nd year) to validate program credibility.
For a reasonable $400 per year ($500 1st year cost – non-member rate is higher), demonstrate to consumers, insurers, OEMs, and suppliers that your facility is qualified, competent, and fit to complete repairs on today’s complex vehicles.
