BC Auto Recyclers Division Info

The B.C. Auto Recyclers division (B-CAR) represents the interests of automobile recycling businesses (wreckers, used parts dealers, etc.). As is the case with many other industries, auto recycling has been reinventing itself in recent years in order to make the industry more environmentally friendly. End-of-life vehicles can contain a number of things that must be properly handled and disposed of in order to protect the environment. This includes things like oil, gas, anti-freeze and other fluids, batteries and even mercury.

Mercury is present in some sensors and switches in automobiles. B-CAR supports the Clean Air Foundation's initiative called "Switchout" by removing, collecting and managing mercury switches from end-of-life vehicles. For more information, visit Switchout.ca.
